The Beginning Teachers Network was developed to support an Action Research initiative to investigate the issues involved with becoming a beginning teacher.


Problem Statement
Development of strategies to promote leadership in beginning teachers, supporting staff aspirations in order to increase the number of capable younger teachers in leadership roles and positions of responsibility.

  • How are beginning teachers promoted through the positions available at their school?
  • Are beginning teachers are encouraged to further their professional development?
  • What professional development opportunities are designed to cater for the needs of younger leaders within the organisation?
  • Can fast-track leadership programs develop beginning teachers into effective leaders?
  • How can current school leaders more effectively prepare beginning teachers for leadership roles?
  • How can beginning teachers better understand the role leaders and the path of leadership opportunities
  • How can beginning teachers become effective school leaders before the generally accepted timeframe?
